Above ALL else?… I’m sure that means above my kids, my wife, Instagram, and fantasy football. Why is it so hard to do the right thing? The Bible App on my phone is located between Amazon and ESPN, but I’m pretty sure it is pressed a lot less than any other app that I have except maybe the calculator.

Life is so busy… but why? Everything seems to be so rushed. You know who never rushed or was in a hurry?.. Jesus! Jesus IS the Prince of Peace. When Martha was busy trying to clean and get dinner on the table, rushing around and in a hurry, Jesus said to Martha, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed – or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” ~Luke 10: 41 We need to spend time with Jesus to form a relationship with him.

In the parable of the Ten Virgins, five of them were foolish and five were wise. The foolish ones ran out of oil, and the wise ones didn’t. The oil in the lamps represents the presence of God in our life, and the only way to keep your lamp filled with oil is by spending time with Jesus. Praying, fellowship, reading your Bible and talking about Jesus are all ways to fill your lamp with oil.

A relationship with Jesus is not a one and done thing you do. I love my wife and kids, so I tell them how much they mean to me and show them everyday by spending time with them. God gives us our DAILY bread, not our weekly, monthly, or yearly bread. God wants us to fill our lamps daily with the love of Jesus. I know if you want to be a better boxer, you better learn how to jab. Everything works off of the jab. Well if you want to be a Christian, you have to have a relationship with Christ, and reading the Bible will open up a wonderful relationship with Jesus. A dusty bible leads to a dirty life!
